The Town of Camden is seeking a qualified and motivated individual for the full-time position of Town Clerk/Registrar of Voters.
This essential public-facing position is responsible for maintaining official municipal records, issuing vital records and licenses, managing elections, preparing town meeting materials, and overseeing voter registration in compliance with Maine State Law.
Duties include (but are not limited to):
- Recording and maintaining land records, vital records, and town ordinances
- Administering elections and voter registration in coordination with the Secretary of State
- Preparing agendas and minutes for Annual and Special Town Meetings
- Issuing marriage, hunting, and dog licenses, and other permits
- Providing customer service to the public and coordinating with other town departments.
Ideal Qualifications:
- Prior experience in municipal government or related administrative role preferred
- Certification as a Maine Town/City Clerk or ability to obtain within 18 months
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office; knowledge of TRIO software a plus
- Strong organizational, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality
Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday. Occasional evening and weekend hours required for elections and meetings.
Reports to: Finance Director
