ROCKLAND — With local students back at school, Funding Our Future (FOF) is looking back over a successful summer of building community awareness and fundraising for the upcoming renovation of Oceanside High School’s auditorium. 

FOF had a strong presence at this year’s Lobster Festival where students offered face painting and sold student-designed T-shirts. Thirteen student and 6 adult volunteers took shifts throughout the five day annual festival to spread the news of the Auditorium renovation project and raised over $2,000 in support of OHS’s upcoming theater productions and in support of the new Thespian Society Troupe.

Last year RSU13 was granted matching federal funds to address long-overdue maintenance and allow for state-of-the-art enhancements to the High School’s auditorium, which serves as a central hub for student life, performing arts, and community engagement. To successfully secure and finalize the project, the district has launched the community phase of the effort. A dedicated committee, aptly named "Funding our Future," has been established and is composed of volunteers committed to raising the necessary matching funds.

"The federal funding gets us across the finish line, but the matching requirement is a challenge that we know our generous and dedicated communities are ready to meet," said Rockland resident Dan Bookham, speaking for the "Funding our Future" committee. "We are now calling on all residents, local businesses, and alumni to join us in this final push. This isn't just a school project; it's an investment in a shared community asset."
