“Rattle The Cage” at a free performance event by artists/activists of The Forty Hour Club, Sunday, Aug. 16, at 3 p.m., at the group’s environmental art installation “A Hole For One!", currently on display at The Steel House Amphitheater in Rockland. 

According to the Club, in a news release, the large-scale installation, companion gallery exhibit, and event—supported in part by The Maine Arts Commission—confronts the unnatural forces of ego and greed while exploring the theme of systemic exclusion verses inclusion, and ultimately, the resiliency and vibrancy of a diverse, shared community.

The “Rattle The Cage” event will feature performance, poetry, and speech meant to encourage meaningful dialog, challenge authoritarianism, defend democracy, and celebrate diversity, inclusion, and the power of “The People”.

The art installation and gallery exhibit are open to the public through September 30. Gallery hours are daily 10am-5pm. The outdoor installation is accessible 24/7.

The Steel House Amphitheater & Gallery are located 639 Main Street, Rockland, ME (across from Home Kitchen Café).
