BELFAST — Claudia Ann Bragdon Sherman, 85, of Belfast, Maine, passed away on August 5, 2026. Born on October 12, 1940, in Belfast, Claudia lived a life full of warmth, laughter, and a genuine love for the people and experiences that filled her days.
-
Those who knew Claudia would tell you she was witty, thoughtful, and considerate, the kind of person who made everyone around her feel welcome. She had a way of putting people at ease, whether she was dealing out a hand of cards or swapping stories over a cup of coffee. She could spend hours playing cards with just about anyone, and she usually did.
-
Claudia loved her work at The Beadery/Green Plastics in Hope Valley, Rhode Island, where she spent more than 25 years before retiring in 2001. It was more than a job to her; it was a place where she built lasting friendships and took pride in her contributions. Her real adventures, though, often began when she hit the road. Claudia loved to travel, from Hawaii to the four corners of the country, and she treasured the family trips to Disney World that created so many cherished memories. After retirement, she found a special fondness for exploring Nova Scotia, where she could sit by the ocean and simply take it all in.
-
Live music was another one of her great passions. From Elvis to Rod Stewart, if the music was playing, Claudia was there to enjoy it. She was a life long fan of the champion UConn Women’s Basketball team and followed her favorite players into the WNBA, never missing a chance to watch the New York Liberty play.
-
She was married for 50 years to her beloved husband, Abial Sherman, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded by her daughter Jennifer Sherman.
-
Claudia is survived by her son, Jeffrey Sherman; her daughters Lorrie Sherman Davis and Alison Sherman; and grandson, Christopher Sherman. She was close to her many nieces and nephews and loved every opportunity she had to spend time with her grand and great-grandchildren.
-
May she find the peace and rest she so richly earned, held gently in God's grace.
