'Vernal Pool Party' up-close exploration in Rockland Bog with Georges River Land Trust
Event Date
Sunday, May 03, 2026 - 10:00 am to 12:00 pm"Spring is an amazing time in the amphibian world – now is the time when frogs and salamanders are migrating from their wintertime woodland hideouts to vernal pools," said Georges River Land Trust, in a news release.
Join GRLT for a vernal pool program at the Rockland Bog on Sunday, May 3, from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Vernal pools are special, ephemeral bodies of water where frogs, salamanders, and insects breed.
"On this guided exploration, participants will learn about these incredible, small creatures and get up close to their pools," said GRLT.
This walk will take place in the Rockland Bog, the Midcoast's largest peatland bog complex, according to the news release.
"This is a unique ecosystem, home to numerous plant and animal species," said the release. "Georges River Land Trust is committed to protecting this incredible, wild place and creating safe access for the community to enjoy and recreate along trails."
This event is free and open to all ages. Please register at georgesriver.org/events. Contact maeve@grlt.org with questions.
