On Wednesday, July 29, at the Camden Yacht Club, Patrisha McLean will talk about finding her own voice at the age of 55 to start the nonprofit "that is breaking the silence of domestic abuse across Maine," said a news release.
The 7 to 9 p.m. Sunset Seminar event is free and open to the public.
"Set against a stunning backdrop, the informal community conversation invites guests to listen, reflect, and join the discussion," said the news release.
Yellow refreshments (the color of Finding Our Voices) will be served. Attendees are welcome to bring wine or beer.
The discussion will include charting a new course and discovering one's voice, passion, and sense of purpose; and ways that community members can help family and friends they fear are in an unhealthy relationship.
"Patrisha McLean was a children's photographer and rosarian living in a castle in the air in Camden when her world was turned upside down with the very public domestic violence arrest in 2016 of her then-husband of three decades," said the news release. "She started and runs Finding Our Voices, the Camden-based sisterhood and nonprofit breaking the silence of domestic abuse including in schools as well as providing practical resources and heart-healing support to Maine women survivors and their children."
