Two of Britain’s greatest landscape painters, who were also the greatest of rivals, J.M.W. Turner and John Constable, will be featured in an  presentation at the Strand Theatre. Screenings of Turner & Constable will take place on Saturday, July 18, at 5 p.m., and Tuesday, July 28, at 1 p.m. 

Born within a year of each other, both Turner and Constable used landscape painting to reflect the changing world around them, according to a Strand Theatre news release. Tate Britain brought these two greats together for a groundbreaking exhibition in London from November 2025 to April 2026, and "Exhibition of Screen" had exclusive and privileged access to bring their extraordinary art and remarkable stories to the big screen so that the film and exhibition can be enjoyed together.

"Turner’s blazing sunsets and sublime scenes from his travels and Constable’s idealized depictions of beloved places from home whipped the public of the time into a frenzy of enthusiasm," said the release. "Constable represents the very best of the old school of realism and pastoral nostalgia; Turner, an exciting new way of depicting emotion and dreamlike impressions. Critics compared their starkly different styles to a clash of ‘fire and water’. "Exhibition of Screen" works with top international museums and galleries to create films which offer a cinematic immersion into the world’s best loved art, accompanied by insights from the world’s leading historians and arts critics.
