Maitland D. Pine, obituary
ROCKLAND — Maitland D. Pine, 81, passed away peacefully at home on June 25, 2026, in the loving arms of his devoted wife and surrounded by his three beloved cats.
He was born October 23, 1944, in Eastport, Maine, the son of Decosta and Vera (Lambert) Pine. He spent his early childhood in Deer Island, New Brunswick, Canada, before moving back to the United States as a young boy, where he attended and graduated from high school.
Following high school, Maitland enlisted in the U.S. Navy, proudly serving his country in Vietnam and other operations.
Throughout his working life, Maitland was a hard worker who wore many hats. He began in home construction, later moving on to lobster fishing, before owning his own auto detailing business for more than 23 years.
Friendly and social by nature, Maitland was a life member of the Rockland Lodge of Elks and the American Legion.
In his own words near the end of his life, Maitland expressed his deep and lasting gratitude to all the special friends who stopped by to visit, chat, and show him love and support, (you know who you are).
