British artist David Hockney profiled in Exhibition on Screen film at Strand Theatre

Sunday, July 05, 2026 - 02:00 pmROCKLAND — Celebrated British artist David Hockney, considered one of the most important figures in contemporary art in both the 20th and 21st centuries, according to a Strand Theatre news release, will be profiled in an Exhibition on Screen presentation at the Strand Theatre. Screenings of David Hockney at the Royal Academy of Arts will take place Sunday, July 5 at 2 p.m., and Thursday, July 9 at 7 p.m.
Featuring intimate and in-depth interviews with Hockney, this revealing film, originally released in 2017, follows David Hockney in his 9th decade, focusing on two blockbuster exhibitions held in 2012 and 2016 at the Royal Academy of Arts in London. Director Phil Grabsky was granted privileged access to craft this cinematic celebration of a 21st century master of creativity and the result is a vibrant tribute to Hockney’s life and legacy.
Exhibition on Screen works with top international museums and galleries to create films which offer a cinematic immersion into the world’s best loved art, accompanied by insights from the world’s leading historians and arts critics.
Running time is 85 minutes.
