Chevy Tahoe lands on its roof in Washington stream
WASHINGTON — The occupant of a Chevy Tahoe was helped from the vehicle by a firefighter after the Tahoe landed on its roof in a stream Thursday night, April 30, 2026.
The Tahoe had gone through the Route 220 and Route 105 intersection at approximately 9:45 p.m., did not turn to the right as expected, but continued forward onto grass next to the stream (which once held a dam), hit the inside of the bridge as it fell into the water, and flipped over.
The water level in the stream was approximately a foot deep, and the current continued around the sides. Washington firefighters set up tubing downstream to catch any fuel. They also picked up the front bumper and other items that had begun to float away.
Union Rescue and Knox County Sheriff’s deputies spoke with the driver, who was walking and talking, and who declined emergency medical assistance.
Hillside Towing lifted the Tahoe out of the waterway.
This is not the first time that a vehicle has ended up in that stream near 7 Waldoboro Road.
