Brae Maple Farm hosts Open Farm Day, July 26

Sunday, July 26, 2026 - 10:00 am to 03:00 pmBrae Maple Farm, in Union, invites the community to join staff for Open Farm Day on Sunday, July 26, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
"Explore the beauty and bounty of this working farm while learning about sustainable gardening, local food, and heritage practices," said Brae Maple, in a news release.
Guests will enjoy tours by Master Gardener Volunteers of their demonstration vegetable gardens, the 1800s-style Heritage Garden, and the Medicine Wheel Garden inspired by Native American traditions. Visitors can learn about the history and care of these spaces and how they contribute to local food security.
Since 1998, Andrea and Allan Smith have hosted the University of Maine Cooperative Extension Master Gardener Volunteers at their farm. Volunteers focus on growing fresh produce for Maine Harvest for Hunger, supporting four local food pantries and soup kitchens. The gardens also serve as hands-on learning sites for organic growing practices.

Demonstrations on organic vegetable gardening, herbal teas, bouquets,, native plants, seed saving, the birds of Brae Maple, and more.

Children’s activities, including fairy house building and a new scavenger hunt.
"The public is welcome to come and connect with the land — now a Forever Farm —, meet their neighbors, and enjoy a day of learning, creativity, and community," said the news release.
Brae Maple Farm is located at 233 N. Union Road in Union, Maine. Parking can be found as you enter the driveway. Accessible parking is available closer to the house where you'll be greeted..
