Shawn Saindon announces independent campaign for Maine House District 44
WARREN — Shawn Saindon has announced his candidacy for Maine House District 44 as an Independent, seeking to represent the towns of Warren, Union, and Hope. The seat is opening as Rep. Bill Pluecker reaches the end of his term. The election will be held on November 3, 2026.
In his news release, Saindon said his decision to run comes from years of community involvement and a deep connection to the people and working character of Midcoast Maine.
“I’m looking forward to the opportunity to represent this amazing community I call home,” said Saindon, in the release. “Over the past eight years on the Warren Planning Board, I’ve had a front-row seat to the accelerated pace of change in our area. I’ve seen how important it is to listen carefully, respect different perspectives, and work toward practical solutions that protect what makes our towns special while helping them move forward. That experience has only strengthened my belief that good leadership starts with listening.”
Saindon has served on the Warren Planning Board for eight years and currently works at Union Farm Equipment. He has also worked on farms and spent a decade in Maine’s seafood industry, working alongside fishermen, harvesters, and restaurants. He grew up in Bath, and says those experiences gave him a strong appreciation for hard work, community, and the value of steady, thoughtful leadership.
Having worked across agriculture, small business, municipal issues, and the seafood economy, Saindon says he understands both the opportunities and challenges facing Maine communities. He believes the fast rate of change in the region has made strong local leadership more important than ever.
Shawn’s campaign will focus on strengthening small businesses, supporting agriculture, and helping Maine communities grow in ways that are practical, balanced, and locally driven. He believes strong towns are built by supporting working people, protecting community character, and making sure local voices are heard.
“As an Independent, I want to put the people of this district first,” Saindon said. “I think we need more common sense, more listening, and a lot less division. The people of Warren, Union, and Hope deserve someone who will show up, work hard, and stay focused on what really matters to our communities and our future.”
More information about Saindon’s campaign and upcoming events will be announced in the weeks ahead.
