Knox County Democrats overwhelmingly endorse Graham Platner to be their U.S. Senate candidate
The most current notable national political race has landed in Maine, and Knox County Democrats are playing a large part in determining who will represent them in the Nov. 3 general elections for U.S. Senate.
Maine has two Senate seats: Angus King holds his six-year seat until the end of the 121st Congress on January 3, 2031. Susan Collins is up for reelection in November and she is the lone Republican on the June 9 Republican Party primary ticket. Those seeking her seat are: David Costello, Brunswick; Janet Mills suspended her campaign April 30 but her name remained on the June 9 primary ballot; Graham Platner, Sullivan; and Andrea LaFlamme, of Bangor, is a declared write-in whose name will not appear on the ballot but is registered with the state.
