Sunday Tidbit: A Walk with Jesus
Part of my spiritual life is a daily “Walk with Jesus.” During this 3-mile walk, I focus on the Lord, listening for His voice to know His thoughts. It is a time of communion, fellowship, and partaking of His presence. I love to sing my praises to Him and, in song, share my thoughts, desires, and prayer requests. This is the creative expression of my heart to the love of my life: Jesus Christ. In return, He shares His thoughts, love, and heart with me (Jeremiah 24:7).
The pathway to listening well is learning to be still (Psalm 46:10). It’s hard to hear God’s voice when the clamor of our thoughts, hearts, and emotions occupies our attention. Worship shifts the focus from self to Jesus. True worship ushers in His presence (Psalm 24:3). His presence not only changes my inner being but also the atmosphere around me. At times, in recognition of the creator who is with me, nature itself will “Break forth into singing” (Isaiah 55:12).
As I share my heart with Jesus, He shares His heart with me. When we draw near to the Lord, He draws near to us. It is a loving relationship, a place of communion, bonded together by His love. His desire is that we know Him and His heart (Jeremiah 24:7). There are times when the Lord shares an insight, such as “A Harvest is coming, that of harvesting hearts.” These insights reveal the purpose and desires of God’s heart.
There are times when the Spirit of the Lord imparts truth that erupts within my entire being. His truth carries the life of His presence, renews the Spirit of my mind, enlarges my heart with understanding, imparts His divine nature to my soul, and energizes my spirit. Whether it comes through prayer, an inspiring message, or while studying the Scripture, it is the piercing of the entrance of His word that enlightens our hearts “In the knowledge of Jesus” (Ephesians 1:17).
Worship is not an event that takes place on Sunday but a way of life. Whether I am driving, pushing a cart in the grocery store, or simply sitting in my easy chair in my office, connecting with Jesus is an ongoing life of fellowship. This helps me keep the channels of communication open as I enjoy His presence, where there is fullness of joy (Psalms 16:1). Many times, because of this, the Lord has unexpectedly shared a warning, a caution, or a word of wisdom that keeps me on the path of life, protects me from certain harm, and helps me prosper in all areas of life.
God loves you so much that He sent His Son, Jesus, not only to receive the gift of salvation and eternal life, but so that you may personally know Him in this life. Jesus is here in this very moment, ready to fellowship with you and to share His thoughts, passion, Truth, wisdom, guidance, healing virtue, and divine nature.
Jesus desires that we not only know Him, but also walk daily with Him. You are His beloved, and your beloved is yours (Song of Solomon 6:3). Your heart is the gateway to His heart. Just as natural couples share their love from the heart, He waits at the door of your heart, the place where love is exchanged in the glory of His presence. It’s all about a life-giving relationship that keeps on giving.
In His abundant life and joy – Roy
