UNION — It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Martha Helen (Wood) Leach, a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend, who died on May 20, 2026, in Hallowell, Maine. She is the daughter of Maurice and Margaret (Poland) Wood and was born on October 26, 1932, in Camden, Maine. Martha lived her life in the Camden/Rockport area except for spending her retirement years with her husband, Beryl, in Lakeland, Florida.

One of her greatest pleasures in life was spending time with all her grand and great-grandchildren. After Beryl’s passing, she decided to move back to Maine to be able to spend these last years enjoying her family and friends.
Martha is survived by her sister, Barbara Campbell of Hope, Maine, and her sons Gary (and wife Julie) of Westborough, Massachusetts, and Steven (and wife Rae) of Union, Maine. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren, Timothy, Jerry, Christopher, Cory, Lauri, Allison, and Stephanie, and great grandchildren, Conner, Brianna, Vivian, James, Jackson, Arthur, Kayleigh, Evelyn, Tristan, Lindsay, and Sadie. She loved spending time with them and watching them grow throughout the years.
Martha was predeceased by her parents, Maurice and Margaret (Poland) Wood; her beloved husband, Beryl; her son David; her daughter, Lori Ann; and her brothers Maurice Wood Jr, Leon Wood, William (Billy) Wood, and Robert (Bobby) Wood.
The family would like to thank the staff at Maine Veterans Home and Hillside Terrace for the amazing care provided over the last few months. She developed a close bond with Erika Golden that we are especially appreciative of.
In accordance with Martha’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral services. A private family celebration and burial will take place later this summer.
