ROCKPORT — MaineHealth Pen Bay Hospital reopened its doors at 6:35 a.m., Friday morning, May 29, 2026, following an approximate hour-long closure of incoming patients and employees.
At 5:15 a.m., Rockport FD and EMS were requested to gather at their station, but were soon requested to stage at the hospital entrances along Commercial Street (Route 1) instead. From there, the crews, along with Rockport and Rockland police officers, prevented entrance of all incoming employees and patients. Area EMS providers were alerted to divert to other medical facilities.
Incoming employees waited at the gas station across from the Commercial Street entrance, and some began parking in the turning lane.
