Event Date
Saturday, May 30, 2026 - 09:00 am to 01:00 pmThe Cushing Community School is gearing up for its 5th annual Little Sprouts plant, seedling, and bake sale on Saturday, May 30, from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m., rain or shine, at Langlais Art Preserve, 576 River Road, in Cushing.
This fundraiser is a collaborative effort of the school community, the local farm community, and the Georges River Land Trust, who will again host the event.
Gardeners looking for a variety of seedlings and plants will find more than 20 types of tomatoes, herbs, peppers, cucumbers, and squash, and flowers including sunflowers, cosmos, zinnias, and perennials. Honey Petal Plants is also returning with native varieties and planting and care information.
"Proceeds from the sale will benefit all students at CCS, and their thanks goes out to local residents and community businesses for their support including River Road Farm, Honey Petal Plants, Saltwater Farm, Haynes Farm, E.L. Spear Lumber and Hardware, and Lowes," said Abby Gilbert, a CCS Family and Friends volunteer, in a news release.
Perennials are still welcome from the community at large; plants to be donated should be dropped off at the Preserve on Friday, May 29, between the hours of 3 - 6 p.m.
The CCS Bake Sale also returns, and donations of baked goods can be delivered during the Saturday hours or between 8 and 10 a.m. on Saturday morning.
"Make it a family event as everyone will also enjoy the incredible sculptures and trails at Langlais Art Preserve, one of Cushing’s true treasures," said CCS.
