Motorcyclist succumbs to injuries from Rockville Street crash
ROCKPORT — A motorcyclist from Waldoboro succumbed to injuries sustained in a motor vehicle crash on Rockville Street, in Rockport, Tuesday morning, May 12, 2026.
Immediately upon arrival to the scene following the 7:38 a.m. notification, Rockport emergency officials requested Lifeflight of Maine. The medical emergency transport helicopter planned to touch down at MaineHealth Pen Bay Hospital, where Rockport EMS had taken the patient.
The crash occured near 258 Rockville Street, just shy of a crest of hill along the windy, hilly street, approximately midway between Rockland Street (Rte. 17) and South Street.
The incident resulted in fatal injuries to Taygan McAllister, 20, of Waldoboro.
Another vehicle was traveling the same road and was involved in the crash as well, according to Rockport Police Sgt. James Greeley. That operator was uninjured.
"The investigation is still ongoing; however, it does appear that speed was a factor in the crash," said Greeley.
The section of street reopened just prior to 9 a.m.
Rockport Police Department was assisted by Rockport EMS, Rockport Fire Department, Rockland Fire Department and Rockland Police Department.
