'How Historical Events Shaped the Forest of Merryspring' guided walk with Allyssa Gregory

Tuesday, June 02, 2026 - 12:00 pmJoin Allyssa Gregory for a walk to see "How Historical Events Shaped the Forest of Merryspring," Tuesday, June 2, at 12 p.m., at Merryspring Nature Center.
Learn how historical events, both natural and human, shaped the forests of Merryspring. This walk will complement her previous online presentation on this topic. During the walk, participants will have the opportunity to see the evidence of past disturbances that created the forest we have today.
"Please dress accordingly and wear good hiking shoes," said Merryspring, in a news release.
Allyssa Gregory is the Maine Forest Service’s Midcoast District Forester. She obtained a forestry degree from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. Her professional background includes rural forestry, urban forestry, horticulture, and structure firefighting. Allyssa is involved with the Tree Farm program as a certified inspector, vice chair, and serves as county chair for Waldo and Knox. She also serves as a board supervisor for Waldo County Soil & Water Conservation District, has a passion for local history, and serves as the chair of the Thorndike Cemetery Committee.
This in-person talk is part of the Summer Talk Series sponsored by Camden Riverhouse Hotel.
