The new store is owned by Jennifer and Will Finan, who moved to Maine in 2023. Jennifer Finan, who previously ran an award-winning interior design practice in Connecticut, combined her love of home boutique and design with her husband Will Finan's background in finance and project management to create Lupine Home Co.
The store features custom furniture, lighting, and textiles, as well as curated home goods such as coffee table books, puzzles, candles, blankets, tabletop decor, gardening tools, clothing, and jewelry.
"Previously in my interior design practice, I'd been doing full-service interior design, but with our new retail space now, we are able to offer smaller services to the community," said Jennifer Finan. "If you need a window treatment or a custom sectional, or a fabric to reupholster an old chair, we can acoommodate you. I wanted the space to be a creative resource where people can come in with their swatches and samples and pick out a wallpaper or a window treatment fabric. We also have a variety of hostess gifts, home decor, lots of cool finds from antique sales, and also have an exciting collection of women's clothing and accessories."
As the store's press release describes it: "The team’s work is rooted in the belief that a home’s design should reflect the people who live there. Clients working with Lupine Home Co. can browse the in-house materials library of fabric and textile samples, explore furniture and lighting in context, and translate personal style into cohesive, timeless interiors."
"We have a rack of beautiful fabrics that can be put on any of our furniture frames, and we also have a catalogue of additional frames to choose from,'" she added. "We can guide customers on their style preferences and budget to the right manufacturer. I work with incredible wholesale manufacturers in North Carolina, which is the furniture capital of the world. We also can help with reupholstery, so our materials library really helps guide people to envision what they want."
The couple has ties to Maine through Will's family, and Will has been visiting since he was a child. "We wanted a change from Connecticut and felt like Maine was a perfect place to raise a family," said Jennifer.
The store also features an exclusive art collection, featuring pieces by artists including Chloe Saron and Nikki Storer, courtesy of KW Contemporary Art of Kennebunk.
"I really want people to see the store as a creative resource," she said.
Soon, Jennifer Finan will be writing a blog, which will focus on design trends and how they fit in locally.
