Robert Dostie, obituary
WASHINGTON — On May 12, 2026, Rob Dostie left this world the same way he lived it: on his own terms. Rob was undeniably one of “the good ones”; he measured a good day by the simple things: supporting his children, loving his wife and friends, spending time outdoors, and the satisfaction of hard work.
Born and raised on the midcoast, Rob attended Medomak Valley High School (where he is still known for his uncanny jumping ability). Rob loved watching his children compete in their athletic events, never missing a game.
Rob was a talented carpenter; his craftsmanship leaves a mark on many jobs around the midcoast. He was not only known for his beautiful work, but the friendships he developed with clients along the way.
On any Sunday in the winter months, you would surely find Rob watching his beloved Patriots. He was overjoyed to have recently attended a game with his son, Owen.
The Maine waters hold countless special memories for his family and friends. A decade of remote family camping trips on Richardson Lake, yearly fishing trips with the boys to Debsconeag, and quiet Saturday afternoons fishing on Sheepscot Lake with his wife. These were his most cherished moments.
Rob was predeceased by his father, David Dostie.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Michele; his daughter Mara and son-in-law Sahil Kirpalani; daughter Mae; and son Owen. His grandmother Lois Teel; brother Bobby Teel; brother Eli MacDougall and his fiancé Alexis; brother-in-law, Chris Moody and wife Mary Kate; several nieces, nephews, cousins and beloved friends.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 2 p.m., at Somerhill Events in Somerville.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please support the victims of the Robbins Lumber accident.
