ROCKPORT — It is with profound sorrow and heavy hearts that the family of Taygan Jamal McAllister announces his passing on May 12, 2026, at the age of 20, as a result of injuries sustained in a tragic accident. Taygan was taken from this world far too soon, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering determination.
Taygan was born on January 17, 2006, in Rockport, Maine to Megan Marquis of Thomaston and Larry Morris Jr. of Selma, Alabama. He attended Thomaston area schools and graduated from Oceanside High School in 2024, a proud milestone in a life defined by grit and perseverance.
A lifelong athlete through and through, Taygan exceeded at baseball, soccer, basketball, snowboarding, and skateboarding. He was passionate about his family and friends, the rush of anything adrenaline-fueled, music, gaming, and cherished time spent at camp. He had a natural gift for connecting with children and enthusiastically volunteered to help with youth sports, his way of giving back the love that sports had given him.
Taygan was building a career he was proud of at The First National Bank, Waldoboro office, where he earned a special award for bringing smiles to both the customers and coworkers for his uplifting personality. He approached his work the same way he approached everything in life, with compassion, focus, and an unyielding determination to succeed. A milestone he treasured was the purchase of his motorcycle, a symbol of the freedom and independence he had worked hard to earn. Those who knew him will remember that no obstacle was too great; Taygan always persevered.
Taygan will be forever loved by his beloved fiancée, Chloe Delano of Rockport, and their two four-legged family members, Coco and Bruno; his mother, Megan Marquis of Thomaston; his dad, Damon J. Moorer of Odessa, Florida; his father, Larry Morris Jr. of Montgomery, Alabama; his siblings, Lexington Marquis of Camden, Amiah Marquis of Thomaston, Sakerian Morris of Selma, Alabama, Diamond Morris and Trevaughn Morris of Montgomery, Alabama; his niece, Kalani Morris, who he never had the chance to meet in person; his aunts and uncles, Penelope Rich (David) of Brewster, Massachusetts, Maynard Pushaw (Samantha) of Hope, Eric Morris of Montgomery, Alabama; his grandparents, Linda McAllister of Union, Maynard Pushaw (Mary) of Hope, Arzulia and Larry Morris Sr. of Selma, Alabama; his lifelong friends, Hunter Shook of Waldoboro, and Michaela Meklin of St. Mary's, Georgia; as well as all the friends who became family along the way; his coaches who helped teach him life wasnt always about winning. Taygan also has many great aunts, uncles, and cousins also remain to cherish his memory.
Taygan was predeceased by his nana, Eleanor McAllister of Union, Maine.
Family and friends are invited to visit Saturday, May 30, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland, where a celebration of his life will be held at 12 Noon. All are invited to a gathering following the service at the Owls Head Community Building, 224 Ash Point Drive, Owls Head. His family has asked, if possible, to wear something baby blue to honor his memory.
In honor of Taygan's memory and his love for sports and community, a baseball scholarship account has been established at the First National Bank. Information will be provided soon for those who wish to contribute and honor his legacy.
