Terry W. Brackett, obituary
SOUTH THOMASTON — Terry W. Brackett passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at the Sussman House in Rockport. He went home to be with his mother. Born in Rockland, June 8, 1959, he was the son of Doris and Walter Black and Russ and Sue Brackett.
In his younger years Terry attended the Nazarene Church, participated in Boy Scouts, and played sports at the Rec Center. Terry was very involved with the community, always helping people out, fixing things that were broken, or getting someone out of a jam. He served as the assistant manager at the Finest Supermarket until trying a new career path aboard a scallop boat out of New Bedford. After finding his love for scalloping he purchased a home in Springfield, Massachusetts. After many years on the water, Terry gave up fishing and took a job as a maintenance manager at Springfield College.
Later in life Terry moved back home to Maine to be closer to his family. He worked for PT Electric for many years until the call of the water was too strong yet again. He began working at McLoon’s Lobster until he retired to care for his mother. He had a big heart. He loved watching football, listening to Elvis, and tinkering to keep busy. He had a special place in his heart for his two dogs Bugzy and Cuddles.
Predeceased by his mother, Doris, and father, Walter Black; Terry is survived by his children, Kristy Patterson Doody and her husband Paul, Terri Jean Ingraham and her husband Cappy, Wayne Brackett and his partner Kylee; his brother, Russell Brackett and his wife Buffy; his sister, Valerie Thompson Brackett and her fur-babies Hope and Bubba; his stepbrother, Skip Black and his wife Barbra; a stepsister, Trudy Black; many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren and his favorite aunt, Judy Steeves.
