Soil Health Field Day at Meadowcroft Farm in Washington
A "Soil Health Field Day" will be held June 9, from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m., at Meadowcroft Farm in Washington.
The community is invited to join Matt Boucher, State soil scientist with the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation, and Forestry, and Knox-Lincoln SWCD, to hear about “Rotational grazing and a cover crop trial,” the first of three Soil Health Field Days.
The Soil Health Field Day series will feature three hands-on soil health trainings to support farmers in implementing best practices. Workshops will cover not only how soil health practices improve soils from a scientific perspective, but also how to approach building these practices into general farming plans. Boucher will discuss different strategies for implementing practices and host farmers will share their experiences establishing and maintaining soil health practices as part of their operation.
Thanks to support from Real Maine, this program is offered free of charge.
Registration is required and a family-style meal will be provided. Attendees may register at Knox-Lincoln SWCD website: https://www.knox-lincoln.org/events-workshops/soil-health-series-2026-field-day-1.
