Sunday Classic film series, Conversation Series at Strand Theatre screens 'High Society'

(Photo courtesy Strand Theatre)August’s Sunday Classic film presentation at Strand Theatre stars Grace Kelly, Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby in High Society (1956), a retelling of The Philadelphia Story re-set in Newport during the Newport Jazz Festival. The film screens on Sunday, Aug. 23, at 2 p.m. This presentation is also a part of the Strand’s Conversation Series, and will include an intro and Q&A with special guest Alicia Malone.
"Iconic Cole Porter songs sung by Kelly, Sinatra and Crosby pepper this breezy film," said a Strand Theatre news release. "Effortlessly cool with rat-pack banter and toe-tapping jazz numbers featuring Louis Armstrong, this delightful and stylish romance is as refreshing as a chilled glass of poolside champagne."
Alicia Malone is an author, film expert, and host on Turner Classic Movies (TCM), including TCM Imports. She has written four books on cinema history, and serves on the board of directors for the Strand Theatre.
