'See the Person Not the Use' open art making days at Coastal Recovery Community Center
Event Date
Friday, May 01, 2026 - 01:00 pm to 04:00 pmCoastal Recovery Community Center teamed up with the Maine CDC to get the word out about reducing stigma associated with substance use and the local recovery community. CRCC is hosting a "See the Person Not the Use" art making journey in May, with open art making days each Friday, from 1 - 4 p.m.
These events will give people a chance to create a project and work on it throughout the month if needed, according to CRCC, in a news release.
These pieces, along with donated works from local artists, will be on display May 29, from 5:30 - 8 p.m., at the Flanagan Center. The show will feature art from all walks of recovery, living experience, affected loved ones and the community that sees us. Each piece will be available to purchase by donation with proceeds staying right with Knox County community members, according to CRCC.
Art shows like CRCC's will be happening all over Maine with a grand display of select pieces at the Governor’s Opioid Summit in July. CRCC welcomes all levels of artistic work through any medium.
"Good food and a better community await at our open art making events," said CRCC. "We hope to see you soon."
