Free community events help celebrate Watts Hall grand reopening

These community gatherings highlight music, local history, family-friendly fun, and opportunities to explore the newly upgraded hall. All events are free and open to the public.
Watts Hall Community Arts provides the following schedules and descriptions:
The celebration begins on Wednesday, April 15 at 12:30 pm with a Brown Bag Lunch featuring Kevin Johnson, Photo Archivist at the Penobscot Marine Museum. Johnson will present on the life and work of renowned Maine photographer Kosti Ruohomaa, a storyteller with a camera who grew up on Rockland’s Dodge Mountain in the 1920s and 30s. Ruohomaa captured the spirit and culture of Maine through its people and landscapes like few others. Guests are encouraged to bring a lunch. Sweets and drinks will be served. This event is co-sponsored by the Thomaston Public Library.
On Friday, April 17 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, Watts Hall will host a Celebration Open House featuring Ukes Rock. Community members are invited to tour the newly upgraded space, enjoy wine and hors d’oeuvres, and celebrate what the community has accomplished together. Ukes Rock, a local ukulele ensemble, will provide lively entertainment beginning at 5:30 pm.
Families are invited to an Old Fashioned Family BINGO Game on Sunday, April 19 at 2:00 pm. This relaxed afternoon focuses on simple fun with friends and neighbors, featuring traditional bingo and lighthearted prizes.
The Brown Bag Lunch series continues on Wednesday, April 22 at 12:00 pm with Sean Fleming’s Real Ragtime Concert. Fleming’s dynamic piano performance spans ragtime, jazz, Dixieland, classical, and more, delivered with energy and joy. Guests are encouraged to bring a lunch. Sweets and drinks will be served. This event is co-sponsored by the Thomaston Public Library.
The final event in the series takes place Monday, April 27 at 12:00 pm with guitarist David Rogers. A modern master of classical guitar, Rogers will present an eclectic program featuring classical, Spanish, and North African repertoire, along with inventive arrangements of contemporary pop music. The performance will also include engaging stories connecting the music. Guests are encouraged to bring a lunch. Sweets and drinks will be served. This event is co-sponsored by the Thomaston Public Library.
These free events are part of a month-long celebration marking the reopening of Watts Hall. Community members are encouraged to attend one or more events and experience the revitalized space.
