Teresa “Terri” Thayer, obituary
HOPE — Teresa Lorraine “Terri” Thayer, 66, passed away on Monday, June 15, 2026, at her home in Hope. Born in Camden, Maine, on May 8, 1960, she was the daughter of Francis and Lorraine Ott.
Terri spent much of her adult life taking care of others, and she was deeply loved by the elderly community for her quirky ways and her outgoing heart. She was known for her fun outfits, her “crazy hair,” and her remarkable tenacity—her determination to never give up, no matter what life brought her.
Terri also had an unconditional love for animals. If you saw her around Hope and Union, you could often spot her furry companion with her, reminding everyone of her gentle spirit and devotion.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lorraine Ott; her father, Francis Ott; and her brother Raymond Ott.
Terri will be remembered with love by her spouse, Gary Thayer; her daughters, Cassie Thompson, Tammi Santos, and Allison Maxcy; her son, Gary Thayer; her brother Ed Ott; her sister, Brenda Rios; and her ten grandchildren. Terri will also be remembered with love by her two close friends, Angie and Sally, and by Lori, her extended family member and friend of 60 years.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Terri’s life at a graveside service to be held Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at 2 p.m., at East Union Cemetery on Miller Road, Union, Maine. Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers during this time of loss.
