Patricia D. Stone, obituary
PORT CLYDE — Patricia D. ‘Patty’ Stone, 89, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at Breakwater Commons in Rockland, surrounded by the loving children she adored.
Patricia was born February 24, 1937, in Thomaston, the second daughter of Ernest F. and Bertha (Winslow) Robinson. Even as a young girl, she had a caregiver's heart, helping to deliver several of her own siblings and lending her mother a steady hand in raising them. It was a role she would carry, quietly and generously, for the rest of her life.
Along with her beloved husband, Ronald Stone, Sr., Patty was a longtime resident of Port Clyde, Patricia poured her heart into Port Clyde Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for more than 15 years, gently shaping the faith of generations of children in the town she loved. She raised her own family in that same idyllic town, filling their days with warmth and hard work. Later in life, in the early 2000s, Patty followed her creative spirit and purchased a local flower shop, Uniquely Yours, where she spent her days designing beautiful arrangements, her own quiet way of bringing a little more beauty into the world.
She found joy in the simple things: tending her garden, knitting, and faithfully making a new pair of socks for many family members each Christmas, without fail. With her daughter by her side, she loved digging into genealogy research, following family trails to cemeteries near and far and piecing together the stories of those who came before her. Camping at Moosehead was another cherished escape, one she looked forward to every year.
Patricia was, above all, a hard worker with an unshakable devotion to her family. For many years, she worked side by side with her husband on his ground fishing boat, and every summer, when the boat came out of the water, she was right there with him again, making the repairs needed to carry them through another season.
She had a deep and abiding love for babies, and nothing made her happier than time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Patricia became a second mother to countless nieces, nephews, and her own children's friends, her door always open to anyone who needed a warm meal or a place to land. She welcomed her husband's aging parents into her home and cared for them tenderly through their final years. Her children still remember waking to a warm kitchen in the early morning hours, the table full of local fishermen enjoying one of her homemade breakfasts. She was also well known for her pies, which were nothing short of legendary.
She cherished her close bond with her sister-in-law, Lucille Wiley of Tenants Harbor, and was a devoted letter-writer, keeping in touch with friends and family across the country with love and consistency. An active member of the Thomaston Grange, she also never missed a chance to cheer on her beloved Boston Red Sox.
Patricia's warmth, generosity, and steady, loving presence touched everyone who knew her. She will be dearly missed, and her memory will live on in the countless lives she quietly shaped with her kindness.
