'Growing Flowers to Dry' talk at Merryspring

Many types of plants can be air dried for arranging, according to Merryspring, in a news release. This includes annuals, perennials, herbs and grasses. John Fromer, Merryspring’s program director and Maine Master Gardener volunteer, will discuss how to grow plants for air drying and methods of drying and storing flowers. He will also provide a list of easy to grow flowers for drying.
John Fromer, a Maine Master Gardener Volunteer for twenty-seven years, has gardened since childhood. He was trained in perennial garden design by Frederick McGourty of the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, and has been drying flowers since the ‘80s creating dried arrangements for home, restaurants and weddings. At Merryspring, Fromer is the program director and trustee. He manages all the programs and provides educational outreach to approximately 1,400 students and hundreds of adults per year.
This in-person talk is part of the Summer Talk Series sponsored by Camden Riverhouse Hotel.
Attendance is free for members; $10 for non-members.
