Arthur Y. Crockett Jr., obituary
ZEPHYRHILLS, Florida — Arthur Y. Crockett, Jr., 80, passed away on March 11, 2026, in Zephyrhills, Florida. He was born on July 21, 1945, in Camden, Maine, to Marie E. McFarland and Arthur Y. Crockett, Sr. Arthur grew up in Midcoast Maine and carried those roots with him throughout his life.
Arthur was a hardworking man who held a variety of local jobs throughout the years, including at Knox Woolen Mill, Camden Tannery, Best Felts, the Town of Camden, and Camden First Aid. He was also known for his many years working on Volkswagen repair and as a delivery driver. In addition, Arthur was a longtime volunteer firefighter with the Camden Fire Department. During his three decades with the Fire Department, he built lasting friendships and created many meaningful memories.
Arthur attended school in the Camden-Rockport district but had not obtained his diploma, however, in 1987 he and his son Donald achieved a shared milestone when they returned to earn their GEDs together.
In June of 1965, he married Patricia A. Aube at the Children’s Chapel in Rockport, beginning a lifelong partnership centered on family and shared memories. Arthur and Patricia raised their two children, Donald and Dee Dee, in Camden.
Arthur had a deep appreciation for automobiles, especially antique vehicles. He owned several over the years, including his beloved 1955 and 1968 Chevy pickup trucks, which could often be seen in local parades and car shows. Arthur also enjoyed his winter home in Dade City, FL and traveling to new and exciting places with his partner Judy.
Arthur is survived by his sister, Marilyn Beane of Camden; his son, Donald Crockett and wife Kim of Rockport; his daughter, Dee Hodgdon and husband Jeff of Lincolnville; and grandchildren, Ethan, Erica, Brandon, Bert, and Cathy.
He was predeceased by his parents; his infant brother, Sanford Crockett; and his wife of 41 years, Patricia.
Beyond his family, friends, and colleagues, Arthur leaves behind his companion, Judith Armstrong, and her family.
He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his commitment to his community, and his dedication to his family.
Loved ones will bid farewell on Saturday, May 9, at 10 a.m., at the Camden Opera House. A brief burial will immediately follow at Seaview Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Rockport. A reception at the John Street United Methodist Church, in Camden, will immediately follow the burial.
