Helen L. Snow, obituary
ROCKLAND — Helen L. Snow, 96, peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 14, 2025 at The Sussman House in Rockport, with her family at her side.
Helen was born September 29, 1929 in Rockport, Maine, the daughter of Leon and Marion Fickett. She grew up in Rockland, attending local schools.
While attending a Sunday church service, Helen happened to meet Bert Snow, who had recently returned from active duty during WWII. As they say, the rest is history and they married July 3, 1952, raising their family locally. Helen’s deep love for her family and her Christian faith was always present throughout her life.
Continuing Bert’s family legacy, Helen worked alongside him in the shipyard they operated in Lermond’s Cove in Rockland. Bert would tell stories of how Helen could handle their harbor workboat “better than any man he knew.” As their family grew, Helen became a dedicated stay-at-home mom. Later in life she worked in the Rockland District Junior High School lunchroom and ended her working career at Fisher Engineering in the office.
Always busy, Helen enjoyed making and lovingly giving quilts, knit afghans and dish cloths, hooked rugs, wall-hangings, and handsewn dolls.
Helen is predeceased by her husband, Bertram Snow; her parents; sisters Arlene McLain and Beverly Shaw; brothers-in-law Newell McLain, Edward Shaw and Robert Connell, her great-grandsons Laken Harrington and Matthew Blackington.
She is survived by her sister Janice Connell; daughter, Carol Lea Mullett; son, Jeffrey Snow and his wife Kimberly; her grandchildren, Judith and Leroy Harrington, Michael and Amber Lea, Jared Lea and Amber Shorey, Anastasia and Jake Shirey, Katie Snow, Tania Snow and Casey Robinson and Maia Snow; her great-grandchildren Dustin and Tori, Nick and Cindy, Tristan and Jeff, Alex and Danielle, Emma, Ryan, Addison, Killian, Keane, Ava, Ella, Damion, Brayden, Malachi, Hailey, Liam, Maive and Octavia; her great-great- grandchildren, Alivia, Parker, Jeffrey, Brayden and Warner; nieces and nephews Mary and Doug, David and Kim, Gary and Missy, Pam and David and families.
Helen was blessed with a long life and we are thankful for each of those days with us. She will be greatly missed.
