Beth Macy, New York Times-bestselling author of a seminal book on how corporate greed created the opioid epidemic, is joining Finding Our Voices online, Tuesday, May 12, at 6 p.m., to talk about the link between substance abuse and domestic abuse, and how both are exacerbated by a dysfunctional class system and radicalized America.

The online May 12 event is linked to Macy's 2024 memoir Paper Girl: A Memoir of Home and Family in a Fractured America in which Finding Our Voices CEO and founder Patrisha McLean said domestic abuse is a recurring theme, according to FOV, in a news release.

Topics of the discussion will include the link between substance abuse and domestic abuse.

Macy is currently running for Congress in Virginia, aiming to unseat a Republican incumbent and "restore the social safety net and protect public education," according to a news release.
