Oceanside baseball swings past Waterville

WATERVILLE — The Oceanside varsity baseball team traveled Friday, May 21 to Waterville and returned to the Midcoast victorious and sporting a 6-7 record. 

The visiting Mariners bested the hosts 5-1 courtesy a three run third inning and a two run sixth inning. 

Waterville (5-8 record), meanwhile, plated its lone run of the contest in the third inning. 

Oceanside recorded seven hits, committed two errors and stranded six runners on base. 

Waterville tallied four hits, committed no errors and abandoned five on base. 

Repeat hitters for Oceanside included Nathan Coombs (single, double) and Bowen Brann (single, triple, RBI). Alec Sirois chipped in a double. 

Gabe Hubbard was the offensive leader for Waterville with a double. 

Working the pitcher’s mound for Waterville were Liam Von Oesen, A.J. Kalacinski and Aiden Morrison. 

Duncan Oakes-Nelsen (one run, four hits, eight strikeouts, two walks) tossed a complete game for the Mariners. 

The next game for the Mariners will be at home Wednesday, May 26 against Belfast at 4 p.m.
