ROCKLAND — The Oceanside and Medomak Valley varsity baseball teams squared off Monday, May 16 in Rockland with the host Mariners collecting a 5-3 victory.
Medomak Valley plated its three runs in the fourth inning while Oceanside recorded two runs in the first inning and three in the second.
The visiting Panthers collected six hits, committed one error and left five runners on base. The hosts, meanwhile, tallied nine hits and left eight on base.
Pitching for Oceanside were Duncan Oakes-Nelsen (six innings, three earned runs, five hits, six strikeouts, four walks, one hit-by-pitch) and Connor Calderwood (one inning, one hit).
On the mound for Medomak Valley were Isaac Simmons (five innings, five earned runs, nine hits, seven strikeouts, three walks) and Porter Gahagan (one inning, one strikeout, one walk).
Notable hitters for Oceanside included Austin Chilles (three singles) and Alex Bartlett (double).
Matt Holbrook (single, double), Wyatt Simmons (two singles) and Brady Carter (two singles) were Medomak Valley’s notable hitters.
