Mount View baseball dominates, blanks Oceanside

ROCKLAND — The varsity baseball teams for Mount View and Oceanside met Thursday, May 12 on the diamond in Rockland with the visiting Mustangs grabbing a dominating 10-0 victory over the host Mariners. 

Mount View tallied three runs in the third inning, one in the fourth, one in the fifth and five in the seventh inning. 

Oceanside recorded three hits, committed seven errors and left six runners on base. Mount View, meanwhile, registered nine hits, committed one error and stranded eight. 

Working the pitcher’s mound for Oceanside were Austin Chilles (four innings, four runs, one earned run, four hits, seven strikeouts, two walks), Connor Calderwood (two innings, run, hit, three strikeouts, walk) and Bryson Mattox (one inning, five runs, one earned run, four hits, one strikeout). 

Pitching for Mount View were Declan Knowlton (four innings, one hit, six strikeouts, two walks) and Noah Hurd (three innings, two hits, eight strikeouts). 

Oceanside’s most notable offensive contributor was Calderwood, who recorded a single and double. 

The most notable offensive contributors for Mount View were Hurd (three singles) and Dakota Harriman (two singles).
