Mainers, let’s keep our rights. Vote No on Question 1
Dear Fellow Mainers, Vote no on Ballot Question 1: the Voter “Safety” (SUPPRESSION) Referendum.
Our Maine vote is our Maine Voice!
Vote No to a bunch of costly, unnecessary rules to attack our Maine voting rights, “being imported to Maine from an out-of-state playbooksee the latest Ohio voter suppression law] that just doesn’t fit Maine.” (LWV of Maine)
It aims to reduce our voice in our state and our country!
One example: it makes absentee voting very hard. In 2024, more than 40% of Mainers, and roughly 60% of Maine seniors, voted absentee in the last Presidential election: many of us including workers, retirees, the disabled often vote absentee.
Another example: “Question 1 will ban pre-paid return postage for absentee ballots, even when the town votes to do it.” (Governor Mills, 10.10.25)
We the citizen people of Maine already have strong low-cost state and local voting safeguards in place now. Fact: almost zero Maine voter fraud.
“This legislation is pure voter suppression that attacks our voting rights and absentee voting. If enacted, it would be one of the most restrictive voter ID laws in the country.” — Non-partisan League of Women Voters of Maine
Mainers, let’s keep our rights!
