Lawrence 'Bub' Way, obituary
Lawrence “Bub” Way, 95, a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, surrounded by his family. Lawrence was born on April 20, 1931, in Belfast, Maine, the son of Harvey and Rosie (Phillips) Way.
Bub graduated from Crosby High School in 1949. He made Balsam wreaths for the family business while in school and then worked at Checkerboard delivering grain. Later along with his loving wife, Donna, they raised chickens on their homestead. In the 60s, he went to work at Holmes Greenhouse in Belfast. Donna joined him there and they worked over 50 years together. His impeccable work ethic and loyal customers over the years made him a valuable asset to the business.
Bub was predeceased by his parents; wife Donna Way; sisters Margaret Willett, Katherine Pitman, Polly Conley, and brothers William Way and Harvey Way Jr.
He is survived by his son, Barry Way and partner Lynn Karlin; grandchildren, Ben Way and partner Liz Lemmon and Adam Way and wife Tracy Boardman; along with great-grandchildren: Bethany, Brandon, Haylen, Harper, Haidee, Brody, Ian and Hailey.
A celebration of life will be held Friday, June 19, at 1 p.m., at Riposta Funeral Home in Belfast, Maine. All are welcome.
