Erickson Fields Farm seeks Summer Teen Ag Crew
ROCKPORT — Maine Coast Heritage Trust, a state-wide land conservation organization, is offering teens ages 14-18 an hourly-paid position in the Teen Ag Crew at Erickson Fields Preserve (164 West St., Rockport). Teen Ag Crew members will gain hands-on experience in sustainable agricultural practices and learn about their local food system.
"The work is both challenging and rewarding and contributes to the Midcoast community by partnering with Good Shepherd Food Bank and food assistance sites," said MCHT, in a news release.
Since the Teen Ag Crew formed in 2010, they have assisted in the production of 17,000+ pounds of fresh produce to local food pantries every year.
"MCHT’s Teen Ag Crew has been an open door for many teens entering the workforce," said the news release. "No previous farming experience is required, just a desire to be outdoors, work hard in a team and learn new skills."
The position will be part-time June 22 through August 21. The starting hourly wage will be $15.10.
Interested teens are encouraged to submit their applications by Sunday, April 26, and may apply online at aldermere.org/teen-ag-crew or call 207-236-2739 to request a paper application.
