WASHINGTON — Gibbs welcomes children’s author Tamra Wight to the library, Saturday, Sept. 12, at 10 a.m., in the Bryant Room. 

Wight will present on wildlife research, talk about what inspires her characters and their adventures in her books, and offer a fun and active wildlife fact game, according to the Library, in a news release. Books will be available to purchase and have signed (if you have your own copies, you can bring them to be signed). 

This event concludes the Library's 2026 summer reading program (Plant a Seed, Read!). Summer Reading participants should get their reading challenge sheets in for their prize tickets, said Gibbs. The end-of-program drawings will happen at this event. (Get your tickets in before the library closes at noon on Thursday, September 10.)

There will also be door prizes at this event with Wight. 

"You do not have to be a summer reading participant to attend this event," said Gibbs. "Everyone is welcome!"

Tamra Wight and her husband, David, raised two children while running Poland Spring Campground in Poland, Maine, for 28 years. She is a nature geek and wildlife photographer: you'll often find her hiking, kayaking, power-walking, geo-caching, and snowshoeing in hopes of capturing new wildlife behavior through her lens.
