Merryspring talk explores 'art and science' of backyard composting

Cindy Wright will lead an outdoor presentation on composting, Tuesday, Sept. 1, at 12 p.m., at Merryspring Nature Center.
Wright will discuss the “art and science” of backyard composting, focusing on setting up and managing a successful backyard composting system, according to Merryspring, in a news release.
The four main topics of the talk will be biology of compost, compost feedstocks and recipes, compost methods and systems, and building and managing your compost pile. This talk is based on the Maine Master Community Composter Course presented by Maine DEP Division of Materials Management in conjunction with Maine Resource Recovery Association (MRRA) and the Food Recovery Council (FRC).
This in-person talk is part of the Summer Talk Series sponsored by Camden Riverhouse Hotel.
Attendance is free for members; $10 for non-members.
