ROCKLAND – A Waldoboro man remains in jail after he was arrested Aug. 21 for allegedly robbing and assaulting a man for his medications in Rockland.

Rockland Police issued a news release announcing the arrest of Leroy Parker Jr., 36, on its Facebook page Aug. 22.

Parker was arrested by the Waldoboro Police Department Aug. 21 on a warrant from the Rockland Police Department for felony robbery, felony stealing drugs, assault, and violation of conditions of release.

Parker made his initial appearance in Knox County Court Aug. 24 before Judge Sarah Gilbert. The state filed a motion to revoke his preconviction since he was on five sets of bail conditions at the time of the incident.

According to the affidavit filed by Rockland Police in Knox County Court, the male victim reported to police that he was assaulted and his medications were stolen by an unknown man. The victim told police that he believed he was seen leaving a Rockland pharmacy with the prescription medications.

The victim and Parker were not prior acquaintances, police said.

The incident began when Parker and several other still unidentified individuals in a vehicle, attempted to trade the victim crack cocaine for his medications. After attempting to trade fake crack cocaine made of rocks, Parker assaulted and stole the victim’s’ medications, according to the police report.

Based on the evidence collected by police, it is believed the victim was targeted due to his mental health and cognitive ability.

Rockland Police thanked Waldoboro Police for their assistance.
