Camden Hills Regional High School Girls Soccer Team wins over Greeley in double overtime
Camden Hills Regional High School Girls Varsity Soccer Team just nearly pulled out a win against the Greely Rangers Saturday, Oct. 4, at Greeley High School in Cumberland.
Sophomore Eve Domareki, #13, opened up the game right away with a bottom corner goal within minutes of kickoff. Not soon after, the opponents kicked one in to tie the game up.
The Jammers didn't let up and Domareki nailed another right in the nick of time. Windjammers went into halftime with a 2-1 lead, and held that for the majority of the second half.
With not much time remaining, junior Thea Laukka sailed one into the top corner to give the Jammers more of a lead.
The opponents, on a surge of energy, got the score up to 3-3 with only minutes remaining in the game.
The Jammers held the Rangers off until the whistle, signaling overtime. Windjammers were feeling ready for the extra time, considering they've gone into overtime twice in past games and have scored early on.
In double overtime, with only a minute left, Liv Domareki let it fly and put the Jammers up 4-3, ending the sudden death overtime.
It was an incredible example of grit and poise on the field this Saturday for the Jammers.
The JV Windjammer team ended in a 0-0 tie, enduring a very hot game against the Rangers.
The varsity Jammers will take on Brewer at home at 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 8. Head to the Camden Regional High School and cheer on your home team.
Liv Domareki is a freshman at Camden Hills Regional High School.
