New police chief assumes position for Thomaston, brings more than 14 years experience
THOMASTON — A new police chief has begun his tenure with the Town of Thomaston. Eric Quatrano assumed the role last week.
Quatrano has been a patrol officer with Thomaston since February, primarily working the Friday-Saturday shift, and "in a short time has distinguished himself as a dedicated public servant with a strong commitment to community policing," said Town Manager Kara George.
Quatrano brings more than 14 years of law enforcement experience. He began his career with the Town of Windham, where he served as a patrol officer, and later advanced to the rank of sergeant at the Town of Oxford Police Department. His leadership philosophy is rooted in service, describing himself as someone who “leads from the front” and “is willing to step in and do any aspect of the job that is required.”
As Thomaston’s new Chief, Quatrano is eager to increase police visibility, strengthen community connections, and expand local community policing initiatives.
“Chief Quatrano’s prior service in other police departments gives him valuable background to draw from," said George. "He brings fresh perspective, enthusiasm, and the drive to build the kind of positive culture that will move the department forward. I believe he will represent the Town with professionalism, work effectively with the Town Manager and Select Board, and foster strong relationships with community members.”
Chief Quatrano quickly developed an appreciation for the Thomaston community and is planning to relocate his family to the area in the coming months.
"This decision underscores both his personal and professional commitment to serving the town," said George.
The community is invited to welcome Chief Quatrano and his family at a formal swearing-in and pinning ceremony during the Select Board meeting on Wednesday, October 15, at 6 p.m., at the Thomaston Municipal Building.
Select Board meetings are usually held on Mondays, however, Monday, Oct. 13 is a holiday.
