Phyllis A. MacDonald, obituary
CAMDEN — Phyllis A. MacDonald, 74, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, October 7, 2025.
Born the youngest of five children, Phyllis grew up in midcoast Maine where she met the love of her life, Otto Proctor, II, at a young age. Together they built a beautiful family, welcoming four children.
Phyllis devoted herself wholeheartedly to motherhood, caring for her family's every need. After her children were grown, her generous spirit led her to work as a private duty housekeeper, touching the lives of several local families with her compassionate care.
Later in life, she found love again with Brian MacDonald. Together they treasured time spent with friends and family, creating countless warm memories.
An avid crocheter, Phyllis was never without a project in progress—always making something special for someone she loved. Her home was filled with the things she cherished most: her family, her beloved pets, and her distinctive collection of cat décor.
Known as "the life of the party," Phyllis was especially in her element during her legendary hen parties and the annual girls' weekends at her daughter's camp. She spent countless happy hours playing video games, often calling family members for cheat codes and tips. Her door was always open, with a delicious home-cooked meal and a cozy spot waiting for anyone who visited. Her infectious laugh and loving heart will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Predeceased by her parents, Linwood Russell Colprit and Gwendlynn Mae Colprit; her husband Brian MacDonald; son Shawn Proctor; sister Gloria; brother Linwood, Jr.; son-in-law Scott Lessard; and grandson Brayden Grotton; Phyllis is survived by her sisters Sharon Vinorse, Marilyn Claudier; her children Angela Lessard, Anette Proctor and her partner Steve Simoneau, Otto Proctor; many nieces and nephews; her grandchildren Brittney Grotton and her husband Roger, Michael Lessard and his wife Kialy, Zoey Proctor, Brandon Lessard and his wife Ashley, Skylor Pacholski-Proctor, Oceana Pacholski-Proctor; great-grandchildren, Talan Grotton, Gabby Grotton, Damion Richards, Maylea Pacholski-Proctor, Dylaila Lessard, Miles Lessard, Declan Lessard, and Robin Lessard.
The love Phyllis had for her family is best expressed in the following poem:
A Letter From the Soul’s Last Moments:
My dearest family,
As I take my final breaths, I want you to know this: do not remember the silence of this moment, but the laughter we shared, the love we lived, and the countless ways our souls touched.
My body may be growing tired, but my spirit feels light, ready to soar. Please don’t cry for me as if I am gone- because love doesn’t vanish, it transforms. I will be in the sunrise that brushes your cheek, the song that suddenly makes you smile.
Carry me in your heart, not in your sorrow. Live fully, for that is how you honor me.
And when your time comes, I will be waiting, just beyond the veil.
