American Patchwork Quartet reinterprets American folk at Camden Opera House
Camden Opera House, 29 Elm St., brings the American Patchwork Quartet to its stage Saturday, Nov. 15, at 7:30 p.m.
"Those who caught American Patchwork Quartet vocalist Falu Shah’s Bay Chamber Concerts appearance last spring won’t want to miss her in this unique ensemble," said the Opera House.
Founded by and featuring Ranky Tanky’s guitarist and vocalist Clay Ross, and also featuring drummer Clarence Penn and bassist Moto Fukushima, American Patchwork Quartet reimagines traditional American folk songs through the lens of four U.S. citizens with different cultural backgrounds.
"APQ weaves dynamic guitar work, Indian classical vocals, and a jazz-driven rhythm section into a richly textured sound," said a news release. "The group resonates as a potent symbol of unity through diversity, standing as a testament to the notion that, from a collage of varied backgrounds, a coherent and beautiful whole can be fashioned. Together, these world-class musicians form a living patchwork of traditions and perspectives — united not by similarity, but by a shared commitment to collaboration, representation, and artistic integrity."
APQ was nominated for Best Folk Album in the 2025 Grammys.
The concert is sponsored by Camden Maine Stay Inn and 40 Paper.
Choose-your-own reserved tickets are $36 in advance, $40 day-of-show, via camdenoperahouse.com and (207) 236-3154.
