  • Volunteering New Hope Midcoast Domestic Abuse Domestic Violence Giving Back

    Midcoast Maine has a long history of volunteerism that strengthens our communities and empowers individuals. New Hope Midcoast, the Regional Domestic Violence Resource Center serving Midcoast Maine, is looking for volunteers who want to join our caring team, make a difference, and enjoy fun, community events. Volunteers will assist with clerical work and events throughout the year.

    Buyers across the state continue to be met with lower-than-average for sale inventory. Statistics shared by Maine Listings indicate a 1.98 percent decrease in sales while the median sales price (MSP) increased 8.62 percent - reaching $353,000 comparing January 2024 to January of last year. The MSP indicates that half of the homes were sold for more and half sold for less.

    Over 100 years ago, the pandemic known as the “Spanish Flu” of 1918, a viral epidemic likely started among WW1 troops in the United States and Europe, swept through Maine causing tens of thousands of deaths. Its rapid spread spawned mobile nursing associations that rose to meet the crisis of an overflow of victims homebound due to the lack of hospital beds.

          On January 29th, I was sitting in my chair engaged in a face time conversation with a friend, when a series of colored balloons rose up behind me. I not only saw this but the person I was talking to saw this as well. The multicolored balloons, perhaps 4 or 5 of them, had no strings attached as they floated upward and disappeared into the ceiling.

    Maine continues to see a high number of qualified buyers across the state while for-sale inventory remains low. According to Maine Listings, 1,218 homes were sold during the month of November, a decrease of 5.51 percent compared to November of last year. The median sales price for homes sold last month jumped 9.23 percent compared to November 2022, reaching $355,000.

There are hundreds of Churches, thousands of pastors and leaders who are God fearing ministers of Christ. People worship openly - even in the face of a 90% Muslim country (Some who are my friends).

    The PAWS medical staff are following a highly infectious, upper respiratory illness that is affecting dogs here in Maine closely. Symptoms are similar to kennel cough and the cause is still to be determined.  It seems to be spreading rapidly and has popped up across the country. Most exposures happen in settings like doggy day care, in a kennel environment, and other places where dogs congregate together (dog parks, hiking trails etc.) but there have been cases with no known exposure.
