Thanks to our volunteers, donors, Board, and the support of this generous community, we are building more affordable housing than ever as we move into 2026. Midcoast Habitat for Humanity now needs a bigger home so we can give our teams and volunteers the space they need to continue their important and growing work.
You may notice that our current location on Route 90 has been listed for sale. This sale will allow us to move into a much-needed larger space so we can continue to do more of what we do best: build brighter futures together.
“We are excited about the progress Midcoast Habitat has made over the years and honored to continue making an impact on housing affordability in our community. The choice of a larger space will afford us that opportunity - and even more - in the future!” said Peter Berke, Board Chair.
As we continue developing pocket neighborhoods, more space will give our hard-working construction and support teams the room they need to improve efficiency and effectiveness across all we do. A bigger space will also allow for a larger Midcoast Habitat ReStore, which helps fund our mission. In addition, it will support greater community participation and provide better parking for volunteers and community members. Our goal is to continue fulfilling our mission and vision by expanding our service to the community.
Midcoast Habitat for Humanity is part of Habitat for Humanity International, founded on the conviction that every person deserves a place to live in dignity and safety. We are dedicated to eliminating substandard housing by constructing, rehabilitating, and preserving homes, advocating for fair and just housing policies, and providing training, support, and access to resources to help families improve their living conditions. Midcoast Habitat builds strength, stability, and self-reliance through homeownership.
“As an organization, we are proud of the sustainable growth we have achieved through the incredible and increasing efforts of our team. It is through this growth that we will continue to meet the critical need for more affordable, safe housing in our region,” said Tia Anderson, Executive Director.
We look forward to sharing more about this in the weeks and months ahead and are grateful for the continued support of our community.
