On Friday, May 1, at 1 p.m., Halcyon String Quartet will present "The Future is Here" as part of Bay Chamber’s Midday Music Series.

"Halcyon, based in Maine, is well known for its programs that weave together music, film, and storytelling to explore our changing times: the climate crisis, community building, and the quest for common values," said Josie Davis, in a news release.

The show combines music with film and stop-motion animation to tell the stories of local Maine organizations that are working on the ground to strengthen communities in the face of climate change. Singer/songwriter and NPR Tiny Desk winner Alisa Amador will join as a special guest.

The program includes music by Caroline Shaw, Philip Glass, Louis Armstong’s What a Wonderful World, Joni Mitchell’s Big Yellow Taxi, and many more.
