The Strand provides the following descriptions:
The series starts on Sunday, Dec. 7, with a 5:30 p.m. screening of Desk Set (1957). In this romantic romp starring Spencer Tracy and Katherine Hepburn, a computer expert tries to prove his electronic brain can replace a television network’s research staff.
On Sunday, Dec. 14, at 2 p.m., Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney and Vera-ellen star in the sparkling holiday favorite White Christmas (1954), in which two musical stars team up with a sister act to help their old Army commander save his failing country inn.
Sunday, Dec. 21 brings Frank Capra’s beloved It’s A Wonderful Life (1946) at 2 p.m. After George Bailey (James Stewart) wishes he had never been born, an angel (Henry Travers) is sent to earth to make George’s wish come true. George starts to realize how many lives he has changed and impacted, and how they would be different if he was never there.
And on Sunday, Dec. 28, at 2 p.m., it’s The Apartment (1961). Jack Lemmon, Shirley MacLaine, and Fred MacMurray star in this hilarious story of an aspiring executive who lets his bosses use his apartment for their extramarital affairs, only to fall for the big chief’s mistress.
